Keeping Calm In The Storm
I launched my substack not too long ago with the ambition of posting at least once a week. Where have you gone? … Simply, taking a much needed break. It is one of the many techniques I have come to embrace over the past few years. Mental and spiritual heath are vital in this information war.
Inflation screaming in your face, media running a million “breaking news” headlines a day - each one crazier than the last, and millions of sheep so scared of the flu that they shut every aspect of society down can leave your head spinning. It can be hard to digest the information.
Opening my Bible and spending quiet time with Him has been my answer to not partner with fear and anxiety. I’m not running away from the issues, instead I am constantly reevaluating my heart as I make sure that my foundation is solid. A verse I have been chewing on as of late is Matthew 8:34. “Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”
He cares about us. We cannot lose sight of His word, it does not return void. Ever. If I were to rely on my emotions to make decisions regarding my worldview I would be in a ever changing sea, tossed around with every whim. Instead, I can dig in. I can spend time soaking in His presence, enabling me to put on my battle gear with a refreshed spirit.
My challenge to you is to take a step back and reflect on where your hope lies. Is it grounded in His word or is floating along shifting with the times?
Grab some accountability from family and friends to keep you moving in the right direction. Shut off technology. Take out any vices you may be gravitating towards. This is the time to get your heart in step with your Creator.
Do not buy into the fear porn. Take a week or two every few months to check yourself. I’ve come out refreshed and ready to go.
Look forward to my writing schedule dropping new articles every Wednesday evening. I appreciate the support on my journey thus far.
